Board Members

Bertan Selim currently works as Head of Development and Communications at the Prince Claus Fund in Amsterdam. He studied Linguistics and economics, and has a background in strategic management consulting in the arts, with focus on institutions in the Netherlands, the Balkans and the MENA region. In 2014 he helped set up the Arab Documentary Photography Programme (ADPP), a joint collaboration of the Prince Claus Fund, Arab Fund for Arts and Culture and Magnum Foundation. He regularly lectures at different art academies throughout Europe. Bertan is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. In 2020 Bertan founded the VID Foundation for Photography to support emerging visual storytellers from the Balkans with grants and mentorships.

Besa Luci is the chief editor and co-founder of Kosovo 2.0, a print and multimedia magazine creating uncompromising journalism that listens to people’s experiences, explains complex realities, provides context, and provokes conversations in Kosovo, the region and beyond. Besa was a Teaching Assistant at the Journalism Department, University of Prishtina between 2013-2019. She holds a BA in political science/international relations and journalism/mass communications from the American University in Bulgaria, and an MA in journalism/magazine writing from the Graduate School of Journalism, University of Missouri, Columbia. She has also worked as senior researcher for various non-governmental organizations in Kosovo, on issues pertaining to media freedoms and human rights. Besa is actively involved in public debates, actions and capacity-building initiatives pertaining to media independence and innovation, journalistic professionalism and ethics. She is also active in documentary production, as a writer and producer.

Brigid O’Shea has lived and worked in Germany and Europe since 2005. She started her career at the Berlin International Film Festival, where she worked for various departments including Berlinale Talents, Berlinale Co-Production Market and the EFM. She was the coordinator of the DOK Industry Programme from 2010 and was appointed head of DOK Industry in late 2014. She left this post in 2021 to establish the Documentary Association of Europe, to usher in a new generation of professionals and advocate on a pan-European level for documentary filmmakers. She has previously freelanced for many documentary institutions in Europe and also for production companies. She tutors across the globe on international co-financing and pitching as well as festival strategies and cultural management. She moderates and curates discussions and programmes on non-fiction filmmaking as an internationally-respected consultant with a wide and diverse network. Currently she serves on the advisory boards of B2B Doc and DMZ Docs and is a programmer at Docs Barcelona.

Jeton Jagxhiu is a graphic artist, manager and co-founder of “Punëtori Grafike”, a Prizren based advertisement studio and printing outlet. Among many other things, Jeton writes on food, culture, identity and is also an social activist.

Ivana Cvetkovic-Bajrovic is a human rights and democracy expert with over two decades of international development experience. Most recently, Ivana was the Associate Director and Interim Senior Director for Europe at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a leading global democracy development foundation, where she designed and managed assistance to hundreds of civil society organizations, independent media and production houses, and think tanks across Europe. In this capacity, Ivana worked closely with a number of documentary and human rights film festivals, as well as leading theater and film producers, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Czechia. As a recognized Southeast Europe regional expert, Ivana has advised key decision-makers in Washington, delivered lectures at leading universities and foreign policy think tanks,  and made a number of media appearances. Her book Mistakes Donors Make: Civil Society and Democracy Assistance in the Balkans (2011) identifies lessons learned from foreign assistance to civil society in post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Serbia. She holds an MPA from Bowie State University and an M.A. in Democracy and Human Rights joint degree from the University of Bologna and University of Sarajevo.
