Can we believe our eyes? The short films of Johann Lurf often explore the enigmatic territory between the real and the perceived, challenging our senses to comprehend visions and sounds taken from the environment around us by means of subtle, beautiful trompe l´oeil effects. Cavalcade, equally dazzling in 2D or 3D, sees him make a direct intervention into physical space for the first time.
Director
Johann LURF (1982, Austria) was educated at art academies in Vienna and London. He makes short films and installations, and works part-time as a projectionist. His work has been screened and received awards at several international festivals. Lurf's experimental short film Embargo had its world premiere at IFFR 2015. In 2017 he made ★, another experimental film consisting of found-footage material.
