Shot in Grand Teton National Park, this immersive essay film draws together the distinct sensibilities of filmmakers Emma Davie (I Am Breathing) and Peter Mettler and philosopher David Abram to encounter the spaces where humans and animals meet. A subversive nature film in which we pique our senses to witness the so-called natural world—which in turn witnesses us. Moose clash antlers and a snail’s body becomes avast landscape while the myriad sensory tools of cinema explore our complicity with this “more-than-human world.”
Peter Mettler produces works which elude categorization. Melding intuitive processes with drama, essay, experiment or documentation, his films hold a unique and influential position in creative expression not only in film but also in new art forms where cinema and other disciplines merge.
Emma Davie has made a wide variety of documentaries for national and international broadcasters and most recently directed a feature documentary called I Am Breathing with a fiction filmmaker, Morag MacKinnon. This film was nominated for three Scottish BAFTAs, won the Scottish BAFTA for Best Director, and played in over 50 countries.
