Yvan Sorel runs a MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) club in Marseille’s “Quartier nord”, a district of the city mainly known in the media for its drug trafficking, gang shootings and kalashnikovs. Day after day, all on his own, with no support from the state, which gave up on this area a long time ago, he fights to keep the children and teenagers on the right path. A film about violence, education, moral values, faith and dignity.
Nicolas Wadimoff was born in Geneva in 1964. He is the cofounder of Etat d’Urgences, an association managing the cultural centre USINE in Geneve. He has been a guitar player in a rock band, touring around Europe. He has directed the fictions Clandestins (1997), Mondialito (2000) and Opération Libertad (2012). As a documentary filmmaker he has directed Alinghi, au cœur du défi (2003), Alinghi, the Inside Story… (2003), Aisheen (still alive in Gaza) (2010) and Chasseurs de Crimes (2013).
