The Prophet takes Kahlil Gibran’s book of poetic prose, and spins it into a cinematic exploration of love, life and loss. Filmmaker and composer Gary Tarn takes an intimate narration, performed by Thandie Newton, and sets it into a score for orchestra, cello, guitar and synthesizer. This unique soundtrack is juxtaposed with images shot on Tarn’s solo travels – to Serbia, Lebanon, America and Italy amongst others – creating a stylised tapestry of people and places that serves to illustrate Gibran’s words.
