After having resisted in the mountains the siege of the Guatemalan army, which killed more than two hundred thousand indigenous people between 1982 and 1996, the Ixil people ended up settling in the northeastern part of the range, which is currently under siege, due to the wealth of gold, water, oil and uranium to be found there. A film about the resistance of a people preparing to defend themselves against a coming war. A celebration of the hope represented by a community that will not give up.
A graduate of the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos of UNAM, he specialized in documentaries and cinematography. In 2006, he received an Ariel award for Best Documentary Short for his film Bajo la tierra. He is currently director of the FraguaCine production company, which makes documentaries.
